I am a sports reporter, content creator and multi-media journalist. I started my career while I was in college and have continued working in the sports industry ever since. I began working for Missouri State University athletics department while I finished my undergraduate degree. As an undergraduate, I also interned with the Kansas City Chiefs.

After graduating from Missouri State University, I went to the University of Missouri to study for my Master of Arts degree in Sports Journalism. At the University of Missouri, I began working in the athletic department in both the communications department and Mizzou Network, where I served as a team reporter. I also served as a graduate assistant at the sports desk for the newspaper. 

​

While at the University of Missouri, I was able to also work alongside ESPN as an official statistician, helping production during various sporting events. I capitalized on numerous opportunities given to me and was able to work with the Southeastern Conference communications team during both the 2018 Football Media Days and the 2018 football conference championship game. 

 

Once I completed my studies at the University of Missouri, I moved on to work for the Kansas City Royals as a Digital Services Coordinator, where I earned Associate of the Game in my first month. At the same time, I was representing Kansas City in the Miss Missouri USA pageant.

Because of my minor in Spanish that I received, I was given the opportunity to be a Sideline Reporter and translator for the Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series with Stadium Network. I was able to translate with team Mexico, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.

As the 2020 baseball season was approaching, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and made everyone pivot. I was fortunate enough to join Bally Sports Midwest during this time as a Social and Digital Content Creator, focusing primarily on coverage of the Kansas City Royals. I have continued to hold this position alongside other opportunities, ever since.

One of those opportunities, is a guest on the weekly radio show "The Closers" out of Columbia, MO, where we discuss the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL from each week throughout the season. I have been a reoccurring guest on this show for three seasons now. 

​

In the spring of 2022, I joined Advocates for Minor Leaguers as a Digital Content Coordinator, handling all of their social media in efforts to organize a players union for minor league baseball players. After successfully organizing a union, all of the staff, myself included, were offered positions with the Major League Baseball Players Association to continue the efforts and organizing of the minor league union. 

 

I returned to Stadium Network covering the 2022 Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series for a second time as a Sideline Reporter. There, I worked alongside a team to provide in-game insight and post-game interviews. 

Prior to the 2022 NFL season, I was offered my own show with Kansas City Sports Network. I currently produce a weekly roundup show covering all of Kansas City collegiate area football teams and the Chiefs.

I continue to strive every day towards my goals and want to constantly improve on my skillset. I am always looking for more opportunities to better myself and advance my career. I once posted this on twitter:

You see, this comes after listening to one of Matthew McConaughey's famous speeches. McConaughey described how his hero was himself, but in ten years. He states that it's because this doesn't allow him to compare himself to someone else or their accomplishments. His hero is himself in ten years and he knows he's never going to attain that, but that's just fine because it always gives him something to keep chasing. Ever since I listened to that speech, I have always said I want to be the first Michaela Bennett. And I whole-heartedly believe in myself and my goals. I won't stop until I reach them.
